๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด:The Upaniแนฃadic Path of Inner Fulfillmen๐
A profound teaching is conveyed through a simple Upaniแนฃadic story—the teaching of the three “Da”s ( เคฆ )
It is said that three groups—Devas, Manuแนฃyas, and Asuras—approached Prajฤpati Brahmฤ and lived with him as students for 36 years. At the end of their study, Brahmฤ gave them just one syllable: “Da” (เคฆ).
Each understood it according to their nature:
The Devas understood it as เคฆाเคฎ्เคฏเคค (damyata) — restrain yourselves.
The Manuแนฃyas understood it as เคฆเคค्เคค (datta) — give, share.
The Asuras understood it as เคฆเคฏเคง्เคตเคฎ् (dayadhvam) — be compassionate.
Brahmฤ affirmed: “You have all understood rightly.”
For us as human beings, the message is clear—Give.
But giving is not limited to material charity. True giving is much deeper and more meaningful. It includes:
Giving knowledge (เค्เคाเคจ) — sharing wisdom and guiding others
Giving devotion (เคญเค्เคคि) — inspiring faith and higher values
Giving time and attention — listening with care
Giving kindness and compassion — uplifting others
Giving strength and encouragement — helping others grow
Thus, giving is not merely an act—it is a way of being.
As it is beautifully said:
เคीเคตเคจे เคฏाเคตเคค् เคเคฆाเคจเคฎ्, เคธ्เคฏाเคค् เคช्เคฐเคฆाเคจเคฎ् เคคเคคोเคฝเคงिเคเคฎ्।
“In life, whatever we receive, let our giving be greater.”
Swami Sivananda expressed this entire vision in a simple and powerful formula:
“Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realise.”
Giving becomes natural when one discovers inner fullness (เคชเคฐिเคชूเคฐ्เคฃเคคा). When the mind is no longer restless with endless desires, it begins to overflow in sharing.
This vision is rooted in the understanding that the same Divine dwells in all beings:
When this vision arises, giving is no longer charity—it becomes worship:
“เคถिเคต เคญाเคตे เคीเคต เคธेเคตा” — serving all beings as manifestations of ลiva.
Therefore, the direction of life should not revolve around:
“What can I gain?”
But should gently transform into:
“What can I give to others?”
This shift changes everything. It transforms our outlook, purifies relationships, and elevates the individual.
From Arjuna’s transformation in the Gฤซtฤ, to the compassion of saints, to the redemption of Jean Valjean in Les Misรฉrables, the message is one:
Give—not only from your hands, but from your heart, your knowledge, and your very being.
In that spirit of giving, one discovers true fulfillment, inner freedom, and the joy of oneness.
