The Blessed Lord said:
"I am Time (Kฤla), the mighty destroyer of worlds, engaged here in annihilating these peoples. Even without you, none of the warriors arrayed in the opposing armies shall survive."
This is one of the most powerful declarations in the entire Bhagavad Gฤซtฤ.
Kฤla (Time) is not merely clock-time — it is the cosmic force that brings all beings to dissolution.
Kแนแนฃแนa reveals that destruction is not Arjuna’s personal act; it is already ordained in the flow of Time.
Arjuna is only an instrument (nimitta-mฤtra).
The destiny of the warriors is already sealed in the cosmic order.
The verse teaches:
- No individual is the ultimate doer.
- The universe operates under a vast divine law.
- Birth and death are governed by Time.
- The wise align themselves with Dharma and become instruments of the Divine Will.
In Advaitic understanding, Time itself is a manifestation within Brahman — appearing as creation, sustenance, and dissolution.

That which, though One only, is the cause of the many; which refutes all other causes, but is Itself without cause; distinct from Mฤyฤ and its effect, the universe; and independent – that Brahman art thou, meditate on this in thy mind.
This verse refines the understanding of Brahman in four decisive ways:
เคเคเคฎेเคต เคธเคค् — The One Alone
Though the world appears manifold, the underlying Reality is One without a second. Multiplicity is only apparent.
เค
เคจेเคเคाเคฐเคฃเคฎ् — Cause of the Many
From that One arise all names and forms — just as waves arise from the ocean. Brahman is the substratum of the universe.
เคाเคฐเคฃाเคจ्เคคเคฐเคจिเคฐाเคธ्เคฏเคाเคฐเคฃเคฎ् — Negator of All Other Causes
No independent second cause exists. Brahman alone is the ultimate cause; all other causes are dependent and provisional.
เคाเคฐ्เคฏเคाเคฐเคฃเคตिเคฒเค्เคทเคฃเคฎ् — Beyond Cause and Effect
At the highest level, Brahman is neither cause nor effect. Causality belongs to Mฤyฤ. In absolute truth (เคชाเคฐเคฎाเคฐ्เคฅिเค เคธเคค्เคฏเคฎ्), Brahman is ever free, untouched, changeless.
HAVE A BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL DAY
