Peace is the true goal of life.
You attain only that which you seek — and you must seek it where it truly exists.
If you desire happiness, seek it in God — the inexhaustible fountain of bliss — not in fleeting sensual pleasures that perish with time.
If you aspire for power, seek the Supreme, the omnipotent Lord — not the fragile authority of name, fame, status, wealth, or weapons.
If you long for prosperity, root it in righteousness and inner harmony — not in artificial living, luxurious houses, or material display.
To seek lasting joy, power, or glory in worldly objects is like a drowning man clutching a crocodile, mistaking it for a log of wood. What appears as rescue becomes the cause of destruction.
The inevitable result is pain, sorrow, and disappointment.
Therefore, awaken! Do not be deluded by appearances. Do not postpone the search for Truth. Life is uncertain; time is precious. When old age weakens the body and circumstances change, worldly supports will fail. That which you relied upon will abandon you.
Seek the Eternal now.
Swamy Sivananda
In the Light of the Bhagavad Gita
Happiness — Not in Objects, but in the Self

One who is unattached to external contacts finds happiness in the Self. Such a person enjoys imperishable bliss.
Swami Sivananda says — seek happiness in God, not in perishable objects.
Krishna says — real happiness is within, not in sensory contact.Worldly pleasures are: Temporary, dependent, followed by sorrow
Inner bliss is: Independent, Self-existent,Imperishable
Power: Not in Position, but in Mastery of Mind

Let a man uplift himself by himself; let him not degrade himself. The mind alone is friend and enemy.
True power is not in empires, wealth, or weapons.
True power is self-mastery.He who conquers:anger, desire, ego is more powerful than one who conquers kingdoms.

Divine qualities such as fearlessness, purity, self-restraint, compassion, truthfulness — these are real wealth.
Prosperity without righteousness brings inner poverty. Dharma-based living brings: Stability, Dignity, Inner contentment
The Fate of the “Crocodile-Clinger”
Swami Sivananda’s metaphor is powerful.
Krishna describes such deluded pursuit:
เค เคจिเคค्เคฏเคฎเคธुเคं เคฒोเคเคฎिเคฎं เคช्เคฐाเคช्เคฏ เคญเคเคธ्เคต เคฎाเคฎ्।
“This world is impermanent and joyless — therefore worship Me.”
The world is:
เค เคจिเคค्เคฏเคฎ् (impermanent)
เค เคธुเคเคฎ् (incapable of lasting happiness)
Clinging to it for ultimate fulfillment leads to sorrow.
Peace — The Final Attainment

เคธुเคนृเคฆं เคธเคฐ्เคตเคญूเคคाเคจां เค्เคाเคค्เคตा เคฎां เคถाเคจ्เคคिเคฎृเค्เคเคคि॥
“Knowing Me as the enjoyer, the Lord of all worlds, the friend of all beings — one attains peace.”
Shanti (Peace) comes from:Right understanding & Surrender.
Vision of the Divine as the inner Self of all
Do Not Postpone — The Urgency

Through serenity, all sorrows end.
Life is uncertain. The body weakens. Relationships change.
But Self-knowledge once gained is never lost.
For a Gแนhastha:
You need not renounce life, but follow the Gita’s integrated path:
Karma Yoga → Perform duty without ego.
Bhakti → Offer all actions to the Lord.
Jnana → Know that the Self alone is real.
Dhyana → Abide in inner stillness daily.
Peace is in right understanding now, even amidst activity.
Seek not the reflection of joy in objects.
Seek the Source of joy in the Self.
That alone is peace.
