Every human life, without exception, faces reversals, tragedies, and sorrows. No one is spared from pain, loss, or disappointment. Lord Krishna, with infinite compassion, revealed the truth of existence in the Bhagavad Gฤซtฤ — “เค เคจिเคค्เคฏं เค เคธुเคं เคฒोเคं” and “เคฆुःเคाเคฒเคฏเคฎ् เค เคถाเคถ्เคตเคคเคฎ्” — this world is transient (asฤลvatam) and a house of sorrow (duแธฅkhฤlayam). Yet, within this impermanent world, the eternal Self shines as pure, blissful, and untouched. The challenge before us is to rise above the sorrow by awakening to that eternal light within.
The Nature of Worldly Sorrows
We often live under the comforting illusion that our dear ones, our possessions, and our achievements will last forever. This attachment to the fleeting gives rise to anxiety, grief, and fear. Everything in the world—body, relationships, wealth, and name—belongs to the realm of time and change. They arise and perish. Just as waves rise and fall on the ocean’s surface, joys and sorrows come and go in life. When we mistake these passing waves for our true identity, we are bound to suffer.
The more we attach ourselves to external objects, persons, and situations, the more intense will be our sorrows and griefs when faced with loss or adversity.Therefore, detaching from these through Self-realisation is the only true solution.
The Way Out — Rising through Knowledge
To persist meaningfully in this ever-changing world, we must lift ourselves — “เคเคฆ्เคงเคฐेเคฆाเคค्เคฎเคจाเคฝเคค्เคฎाเคจं” — by the power of discrimination and knowledge. The mind that clings to the impermanent is enslaved; the mind that turns inward towards the eternal gains freedom. Lord Krishna says, “เค्เคाเคจเคฆीเคชेเคจ เคญाเคธ्เคตเคคा” — we must illumine our hearts with the lamp of wisdom. Knowledge (jรฑฤna) dispels the darkness of ignorance (ajรฑฤna), revealing our true nature as sat–cit–ฤnanda — Existence, Consciousness, and Bliss.
When one anchors in this Self, worldly sorrows lose their sting. The wise do not mourn for what perishes, for they see the imperishable behind the perishable. As the sun remains untouched by passing clouds, the Self remains ever luminous amidst the play of pleasure and pain.
Conclusion
Thus, the way to overcome sorrow is not by changing the world, but by transforming our understanding. By detaching from the unreal and aligning with the eternal, we transcend suffering. *The lamp of knowledge alone can guide us through the darkness of impermanence to the light of the Infinite.*
To sum up:
* The world changes, but the Self never changes.
* Attachment binds; knowledge liberates.
* In the lamp of wisdom, sorrow dissolves like darkness before dawn.
* Let the light of jรฑฤna shine — “เค्เคाเคจเคฆीเคชेเคจ เคญाเคธ्เคตเคคा” — and reveal the bliss that was always within.
